Manager's Notes: Great pitching by Monbo and power hitting by our star rookie, Tony Conigliaro. We desperately needed this kind of game.

Manager's Notes: This was excrutiating. The team showed some moxey by coming back from a 3-0 deficit only to lose in extra innings.

Tony C went 1-2, a single, and walked twice.
Manager's Notes: Before the game, the GM came in and gave me some good news. Carl Yastrzemski was being activated off of the 15-day DL and the team was sending catcher Bob Tillman to triple A. After the game, the GM gave me the bad news. Felix Mantilla, who left the game in the 6th while sliding into a base, had fractured his elbow and will be lost for the remainder of the season. The GM is going to call up first baseman Bobby Guindon to take Mantilla's spot on the roster. Felix is going to go on the 60-day DL.

5/28/64 - Off Day
Manager's Notes: We are getting ready to go on our road trip to take on Minnesota, Los Angeles and Kansas City. I'll start Bob Aspromonte at third base for the opening game against the Twins but I'm leaning towards putting Dalton Jones there. Dalton is a better fielder and is hitting better. Jimmy Coker and Russ Nixon will share the catching duties.

Boston gets 2 runs in the 5th on singles by Nixon and Bressoud then two more runs in the 6th on a fielder's choice ground out by Wilson and a single by Jones. The Twins tie the game with 3 runs in the bottom of the 6th on a 3-run HR by Killebrew. The teams each score a run in the 7th, Boston on a single by Aspromonte, and Minnesota on a single by Oliva. The Red Sox score three times in the 8th on a bases-loaded walk by Conigliaro and a 2-run single by Aspromonte.
Tony C went 1-3, a single, plus two walks, the first one intentional, the second one with the bases loaded.
Manager's Notes: What a crazy game. Minnesota is a great team but they've been struggling with their defense lately. Maybe if we play solid "D", the rest of the things will come around and we can get back in the race.

Scoring Summary
Boston strikes first with a run in the 1st on a ground out by Stuart. The Red Sox get single runs in the 4th, 5th and 6th innings on home runs by Conigliaro and Nixon, plus a single by Yastrzemski. Minnesota scores twice in the bottom of the 6th on a 2-run HR by Mincher.
Tony C goes 1-5, home run, his 8th of the season, with 1 RBI
Manager's Notes: Monbo handcuffed the Twins all game except for the 6th inning. Bill (Monbouquette) is 6-1 now. With the All-Star game a little over a month away, maybe the Yankees' manager will select him for the team. Conigliaro belted his third home run of this week. He's got loads of talent and potential. I've decided that maybe Russ Nixon should get a good bulk of the catching duties. He's driven in runs now in each of the two games so far against Minnesota.

Tony C went 0-5. He went 7-24 (.292) for the week with 3 home runs and 4 RBIs.
Manager's Notes: What a way to begin the road trip, sweeping the Twins. We end the week, and May, on a high note as we clawed back to .500 (22-22). Lamabe pitched super, only allowing one hit. It's about time that he's started coming around. He's thrown 13 out of 14 scoreless innings in his two starts this week, the last 11 in a row.
Other MLB News
Hank Aaron went 10-28 (.357) with 3 HRs and 6 RBIs this week. He is now batting .311 with 9 homers and 29 RBIs.
