First, Dan, I removed the tags after my name so it wouldn't be easy to identify which leagues I was referring to.
I can sympathize with those who have relatives over there and want to take pause to reflect on them. However, I have a cousin right now on the ground in Iraq and before he left he told us not to change one thing about our lives when the war started because it was letting the terrorists dictate our lives.
You can call it over-reacting to speak out against a league shutting down...I'm just trying to do what I was asked to do by my family member who's in the middle of the war. If you have problem with that, then I really don't care. My family's opinion will come before the opinion of someone else on this message board.
That's why I'm so against shutting things down...it feels to me like I'm doing exactly what he asked us not to do... I also know it's out of my hands and Dan can do whatever he wants to do with the league...that's why he's commissioner.
There's good on both sides of this argument and that's the hard part about it. No one is really wrong on either side of this. It's just important to understand that no matter what action you take in your league that there are people who will disagree with you and you should be repectful of their opinions as well. Wanting to continue doesn't necessarily mean you're un-American or don't support the troops...and wanting to stop doesn't necessarily mean you're letting the terrorists win.
(And before you wonder, that wasn't directed at Dan but someone else who e-mailed me privately questioning my patriotism because I wanted our leagues to continue.)
