Blue Jays Have Worst Record in Baseball

June 1st, 2007

The Toronto Blue Jays currently have the worst record in baseball and sit 14.5 games back of the Tampa Bay Devil Rays for 1st Place in the American League East. The Jays record is 17-35. GM Ryan Stewart attributes to poor record to injuries "We have had a number of significant injuries this year. Our #3 Starter SP Jorge Tamayo has a strained back and will miss 6-8 weeks, LF Xavier Coates has missed 2 weeks with a sore knee and C Roberto Francis missed a month with a back injury. Wh had to call up 26 year old SP Adam Barber from AAA Syracuse to fill in for SP Jorge Tamayo. Barber is 7-2 with a 3.71 ERA this year in AAA. If we could get the whole lineup healthy we should be able to compete better than this"

With the Jays struggling so badly the possibility of moving some of the veterans on the team for prospects at the deadline has come up in the media. GM Ryan Stewart on the possibility "We don't really know yet. We don't want to throw in the towel just yet. If we can get healthy we might be able to go on a run and get back in the playoff picture. We will always listen to offers for players but nothing is definative yet"
