Toronto scored 2 runs in the bottom of the 9th to tie the game and force extra innings on a 1-out triple by CF Vitantonio Ardinghi. But in the top of the 10th Rangers 3B Tim Wilson hit a 3-run homerun off of SP Andy Simmons to give the Rangers a 7-4 lead. The Jays would score one more run in the bottom of the 10th on an RBI single by 3B Dave Chambers but their rally would come up short and the Rangers took game #1. SP Andy Simmons went 9.2 innings allowing 10 hits 6 earned runs walked 1 and struckout 9. He threw 116 pitches to take the loss.

Toronto jumped all over former teammate SP Jose Robles in the 4th inning scoring 5 runs on doubles by C Hugh Edwards, 2B Stan Elliott, RF Alonso Martinez and a 2-run triple by CF Vitantonio Ardinghi. Robels would not get through the 5th inning going only 4.1 innings and allowing all 7 runs with 3 walks and 1 strikeout. SP Christian Jacobs was masterful going the distance on a 22 hit shutout. He walked only 1 nad struckout 5 in the victory.

Toronto scored 3 times in the bottom of the 3rd inning on a 2 run triple by SS Richard Evans and an RBI single from 2B Stan Elliott. They would score 2 more runs in the 7th inning on DH Mario Rivera's 2-out 2-run double to make the score 6-3. They Jays would then tack on an insurace run in the 9th inning to take the game 7-3. SP Raul Ruiz went 6.1 innings and alloed 5 hits and 3 earned runs while walking 2 and striking out 10 to get his 2nd win in the post season.

The Blue Jays and the Rangers traded single runs in the 2nd and 4th innings and that would be all of the scoring in the game until the top of the 12th inning when the leadoff man in the Jays SS Richard Evans stepped to the plate and drove a 1-0 fastball 430ft into centerfield to give the Jays a 2-1 lead. SP Bill Arkell went 7.1 innings for the Jays and then the bullpen took over. MR Sergio Vargas, CL Steve Perkins and MR Vince Evans threw 4.2 innings of no hit baseball to preserve the victory for the Jays.

Toronto scored single runs in the 1st, 3rd and 8th innings on RBI doubles by LF Felipe Montero, 2B Stan Elliott and RF Alonso Martinez. Texas replied in the 5th inning with a 2-run homerun by RF Ted Nelson and again in the 8th inning on an RBI single by CF Juan Garcia to tie the game and for the secons straight night send it to extra innings. The score remained tied until the top of the 10th inning 3B Dave Chambers singled and moved to second on a wild pitch. 2B Stan Elliott doubled into the LF corner to score Chambers and give the Jays the 4-3 victory and the series victory. SP Kiminobu Hashimoto went 6.1 innings and allowed 3 earned runs on 9 hits walking 1 and striking out 9 to gain the win.
