CF Vitantonio Ardinghi went 3-4 and drove in 3 runs and SS Richard Evans had a 2 run homerun in the 7th as the Jays pound the Angels in Game one of the American League Division Series. SP Raul Ruiz went 7 innings giving up 3 hits and 1 ER while walking 1 and striking out 9 for the victory.

CL Steve Perkins pitched a 1-2-3 9th inning striking out 2 for his first save of the post season. SP Bill Baker went 7.2 innings giving up 8 hits and 3 earned runs with 3 BB and 3 K to take the loss.

The Blue Jays scored 2 runs in the top of the 3rd inning on homeruns by LF Marcos Rosario and 3B Mario Rivera to put them up 2-0. The Angels tied the game in the bottom of the 6th inning on a 2-run homerun 3B Jesus Medina. The game stayed tied until the top of the 9th when with 2 out and CF Vitantonio Ardinghi at 3rd Rookie 3B Dave Chambers stepped up and drove a 2-2 Batrolo Nava offering into centerfield to give the Jays a 3-2 lead. SP Kiminobu Hashimoto would go 6.2 innings and gave up 2 runs on 9 hits with 2 BB and 5 K. He gave way to MR Carlos Yhuit who went 1.1 innings allowing a single hit and struckout 2 to earn the victory. CL Steve Perkins pitched another scoreless 9th striking out 2 to earn his 2nd save in as many games. For the Angels SP Bartolo Nava went 9 innings and allowed 3 runs on 8 hits and waled 2 with 4 K in the loss.
