Jays Win Back-to-Back World Series, Defeat the Nationals in 5!

October 25th 2011.

Game #1

Recap:
DH Nick Cooper and 3B Mario Rivera hit homeruns and Rivera's was a three run bomb in the bottom of the 8th inning to break a 1-1 tie and give the Jays a 6-1 lead. SP Bill Arkell went 7.0 strong innings allowing 5 hits and 1 ER while walking 0 and striking out 8. CL Claudio Vargas pitched 2 scoreless innings giving up 1 hit and striking out 1 for his first save of the post season.

Recap:
C Nick Cooper broke a 2-2 tie in the bottom of the 6th inning with a 2-run homerun and the Jays would tack on 4 more in the 8th for the 8-3 win. SP Kiminobu Hashimoto wnet 5.1 innings allowing 4 hits and 2 earned runs he walked 4 and struck out 7. MR Carlos Yhuit went 1.2 innings and struckout a pair for the save, his second of the post season.

Recap:
3B Mario Rivera hit a one out double in the top of the 2nd off of SP Miguel Rodriguez to give the Jays a 2-1 lead. CF Vitantonio Ardinghi would hit his frst homerun of the post season in the 5th and that was all of the offence in the game. SP Raul Ruiz went 8 innings allowing 4 hits 1 earned run and walked 0 and struck out 7. CL Steve Perkins pitched a 1-2-3 9th inning for his 3rd save of the post season.

Recap:
A wild one in Washington as the Nationals held a 3-0 lead heading into the top of the 9th inning. They brought in Allstar CL Omar Troost who promptly gave up 3 runs on 4 hits to tie the game at 3. The Jays got RBI base-hits from 3B Mario Rivera, CF Rick Bjork and PH Nick Cooper. But in the bottom of the inning CL Steve Perkins who had come into the game because SP Christian Jacobs had been pinch hit for in the top of the 9th gave up a one out homerun to C Coseph Weston to win the game for the Nationals and keep them alive. SP Christian Jacobs went 8 innings and allowed 6 hitsa nd 3 earned runs. He walked 0 and struckout 6.

Recap:
1B Nathan Wilder hit a 1-out homerun 415 feet into left field inthe 7th inning to break a 2-2 tie and 2B Stan Elliot padded the lead with a 2-run homerun in the 8th inning to give the Jays a 5-2 victory and secure their 2nd World Series title in as many years. SP Bill Arkell went 8 strong innings allowing 7 hits, 2 earned runs walked 1 and struckout 11 for the win. MR Sergio Vargas picked up the save, his second with a perfect 1-2-3 9th inning in front of a stunned sellout growd in Washington. Washington SP Arthur Bell went 8.1 innings and allowed 10 hits and 5 earned runs int he loss.
