Texas scored their only run in the top of the first on an RBI single by CF Yasutoki Murata as the Rangers held a 1-0 lead un the Jays until the bottom of the 7th inning Texas SP Leon Gonzales was cruising through 6 innings he had allowed only 3 hits and no runs. In the bottom of the 7th lead off singles be RF Alonso Martinez and CF Vitantonio Ardinghi put two on with no one out and brought up 2B Stan Elliott. Elliot mashed a 2-1 curve ball 415 feet into the left field bleachers to give the Jays a 3-1 lead. SS Richard Evans would add an RBI single as the Jays scored 4 times in the inning. SP Christian Jacobs went 8 innings allowing 7 hits nad 1 runa nd 1 walk while striking out 10. CL Steve Perkins pitched a scoreless 9th striking out a pair for his second save of the post season.

7 different Blue Jays drove in runs and all 9 starters had at least one hit as the Jays pounded out 9 runs on 12 hits to defeat the Rangers 9-2. SP Raul Ruiz went 7 innings giving up 9 hits and 2 earned runs while walking none and striking out 10. MR Carlos Yhuit went 2 scoreless innings in relief and gave up no hits and struckout a pair. Texas starter Baio Hor managed to go only 5.2 innings and allowed 9 hits and 6 earned runs with 2 strikeouts.

Toronto scored 5 times in the top of the 2nd inning including a 2 out grand slam by RF Alonso Martinez. 3B Byron Webb would drive in the other 2 Jays runs with an RBI single in the 2nd and a 2 out RBI double in the 4th. This was more than enough offence for SP Bill Arkell who went all 9 innings giving up 7 hits 1 earned run walked 1 and struck out 8 for the victory. Texas starter Gary Clark would last jsut 4 innings giving up all 6 runs in 5 hits to take the loss. The victory moves the Jays one win away from playing in their 2nd consecutive World Series.

SS Richard Evans and 1B Nathan Wilder hit home runs but it wasn't enough as Texas scored 2 runs in the bottom of the 7th inning on a 2-out double by 3B Ray Craft to give the Rangers a 5-4 lead that they would not give up. Rangers SP Bryan Turner who was aquired from Baltimore at the trade deadline wnet 8 innings and allowed 6 hits and 4 runs for the win and to keep Texas alive. Jays SP Kiminobu Hashimoto went 6.2 innings and allowed all 5 runs on 4 hits he walked 3 and struckout 4.

In a rematch of game 1 starters SP Christian Jacobs took on Rangers Ace SP Leon Gonzales. Both pitchers were on fire throwing up zeros until the bottom of the 7th when Jays 1B Nathan Wilder hit a 3 run homerun with 2 out to give the Jays a 3-0 lead. This is all of the offence that SP Christian Jacobs would need as he would toss a complete game shutout giving up only 5 hits and struck out 9. The win gives the Jays the series win and propells them into the World Series to face the Washington Nationals.
