Raul Ruiz to Miss 1-2 Weeks

Raul Ruiz at first refused to leave today's Tampa Bay-Toronto game after he suffered dead arm syndrom while throwing a pitch in the 4th inning but his manager convinced him not to be foolish. "I'm a competitor" the fiesty Toronto SP said "I'll play through just about anything" Given time to reflect on the situation, he knew it was in his best interest to get immediate treatment. Doctors believe that the injury will keep Ruiz from pitching for 1-2 weeks. This season Ruiz is 19-6 with a 1.92 ERA.

GM Ryan Stewart on the injury "It is unfortunate to loose such a competitor and I am not suprised he did not want to come out of the game. We will put him on the 15 day DL just so we know he won't pitch for the next 15 days. He should be activated just in time for the American League Division Series. SP Andy Simmons or SP Antonio Perez will take his spot int he rotation while he is recovering"
