Day-to-Day Injury Shelves Arkell
August 19th, 2011.
Bill Arkell will be watching from hre owner's box after suffering a finger blister in his last start against the Baltimore Orioles. Although team Doctors are not overly concerned, they want to play it safe, listing the injury as day-to-day. The starting pitcher could miss up to two weeks before his injury fully heals. In 2011 Arkell has a record of 13-3 in 25 starts and he has a 3.44 ERA.
GM Ryan Stewart was asked about the injury "He is going to be placed on the 15 day DL and we have recalled SP Andy Simmons from AAA Syracuse. Simmons is performing quite well for the Chiefs going 2-3 with a 1.68 ERA in 28 games. He was going to be a callup in September anyway, this will give us an oppertunity to get a look at him a little bit earlier. We wanted to play it safe with Arkell and put him on the DL so he can be fully healed and rested for the playoffs"
