Jays Finish April In 1st Place
May 1st, 2010.
The Toronto Blue Jays cruised to a 21-4 record in the first month of the 2011 season including winning the first 6 games of the regular season at home against the Tampa Bay Devil Rays and New York Yankees. The Jays are currently sitting in 1st Place in the American League East with a comfortable 8.5 game lead on the Baltimore Orioles and New York Yankees. The Blue Jays have been getting great starting pitching as of late and have the best team ERA in all of baseball. GM Ryan Stewart gives the credit to the team Pitching Coach for their success "Martin Martinez the teams Pitching Coach was in Spring Training earily with most of our pitchers and he deserves a lot of the credit for getting the staff to where it is. He puts in a lot of hours in the video room with the pitchers going over mechanics and matchups and it shows as the starters were only tagged with 2 losses in the first month"
