Jays Ousted in 4 Games

October 10th, 2009.

The Toronto Blue Jays were eliminated from post season play today in 4 games at the hands of the Texas Rangers. GM Ryan Stewart was quoted as saying "I don't understand it, we put up the best record in baseball and than forget how to play when the playoffs roll around" Rumors abound that the Jays GM is contimplating firing Manager Tomas Vega and bring someone in who has a better record of success in post season baseball.

Game #1

SP Leon Hodges (13-13 3.40 ERA)
SP Christian Jacobs (20-7 2.04 ERA)

Toronto 11 - Texas 2

W: C. Jacobs (1-0)
L: L. Hodges (0-1)

The Blue Jays jumped all over the Rangers scoring 11 runs on 18 hits. 1B Nathan Wilder went 4-4 with 5 RBI, SS Richard Evans went 3-3 with 5 RBI and C Hugh Edwards went 4-5 and scored 3 runs. Christian Jacobs went 5.1 innings giving up 5 hits and allowing no runs with 4 strikeouts.

Game #2

SP Leon Gonzalez (17-3 2.17 ERA)
SP Bill Arkell (16-9 2.63 ERA)

Toronto 2 - Texas 7

L: B. Arkell (0-1)
W: L. Gonzalez (1-0)
S: J.Weareowear (1)

The Jays could only manage 4 hits off of the Rangers pitchers and Toronto SP Bill Arkell continues to struggle in the postseason losing his 3 straight decision. Rangers SP L. Gonzalez pitched 5.2 innings of 3 hit ball while allowing 1 run and K'ing 4.

Game #3

SP Baio Hor (21-8 2.62 )
SP Kiminobu Hashimoto (17-5 3.08)

Toronto 4 - Texas 6

L: K. Hashimoto (0-1)
W: B. Hor (1-0)
S: M. Kirby (1)

Texas 3B Tim Wilson hit 2 home runs and drove in 4 runs to give Texas the victory. Hashimoto lasted only 5 innings and allowed all 6 Ranger runs.

Game #4

SP Raul Ruiz (14-3 2.56)

Toronto 2 - Texas 6

L: R.Ruiz (0-1)
W: L. Hodges(1-1)

Blue Jays batters managed only 5 hits against SP Leon Hodges and Raul Ruiz allowed 6 runs if 6 innings as the Blue Jays were eliminated in the American League Division series for the third consecutive season.
