Jays Lose 2 to Free Agency

November 25th, 2008.

The Toronto Blue Jays did not renew the contracts of SP Tenshin Imai and 2B Josh Gibson and at 12:00 AM this morning they became free agents. 38 year old SP Tenshin Imai was an allstar for Toronto in 2007 and this year was a dissapointment going 12-12 with a 3.85 ERA 47 BB and 184 K in 220 innings pitched. 38 Year old 2B Josh Gibson hit .250 with 11 HR and 75 RBI and saw some dramatic decreases to his talen and current ratings. GM Ryan Stewart was asked about the loss of both Players "We didn't want to lose either player but this game is a business. Imai just wanted too much money and in the end we were over $10 million dollars off in what we wanted to pay him and what he thought he was worth. Gibson is just getting old and it was reflecting in his ratings and production at the plate. We think we can find a younger, cheaper replacement from within or system or fill the need via free agency or a trade"
