You're right, and I just am not too enthralled with Jeter. There's always been an air about him I just didn't like. Reading the book about the 2006 Yanks, that I mentioned in the off-season thread, revealed to me why I never felt right about him.
It's much more important to the team's future to keep Arod to me than to keep Jeter around. From what that book said about Arod's working with the younger players, etc, he should be the one the Yanks are rewarding, along with the fans, not Jeter. Jeter cultivates a public image that isn't quite the real Jeter.
