1. The hating on them has now gone too far. Everyone hates them, so I have now decided to root for them.
2. I would like to see Alex Rodirquez and Bobby Abreu get rings.
3. It would stop this silly debate of whether Alex Rodriquez belongs in the Hall of Fame or not because he couldn't even win a ring with the Yankees.
4. I couldn't stand the people who said the Yankees were done when we were 2 months into the season.
5. Because now Red Sox fans have become more annoying than Yankee fans.

I'm with you. I actually started out as a neutral fan, not sure who I liked, years ago. Reading several books on MLB teams and their histories, how the teams were run behind the scenes, etc made me respect and like the Yankees more than any other MLB club. The Yankees are just about the only club that commits to winning every year. Almost all of the other franchises play to get fans to fill the seats.
The Red Sox historically under Frazee, Yawkey and now Henry have almost always spent more money on players than the Yankees. The Yanks didn't start doing that en masse until Steinbrenner came along. I admire and like an organization that commits to winning year after year. The Yanks are that organization. That's who I hope wins.
After studying the history of MLB, and the mindsets of the different teams, I can't see how one could not like and admire the Yankees. They are one of the few teams committed to giving the fans a winning team year after year. So many other teams (the Cubs come to mind), actually bank on their "lovable image" and don't make serious efforts to win. The Cubs have only in recent years begun to make that effort.
The Cardinals usually try to make the effort, and I like and respect them also. I honestly can't see why fans who are not living in specific city decide to follow teams who do not commit to winning every year. Then again, that's what makes us different.
I think the Phillies have the NL momentum.
