1927 Amateur Draft
Another draft that was big on hitting and low on pitching (which really sucks when you only have 9 pitchers total in your organization, and are having to consider using a guy with 2-3-3 ratings as your set-up guy...). That being said - Albert Pujols was the consensus number one -and went to the Yankees - There was then a series of decent players. The White Sox may have got a steal with Granny Hamner at 13. Forturnately the AI finally recognized the Cubs dilemma and picked some pitchers in rounds 3 and 4.
As was true last year 9 of the last 10 players picked were pitchers. Oh, and Bernie Williams went to the Yankees - because I think there's a rule that forces that.
For the Cubs - every draft pick is up with the big club this year. Which goes to say more about our depth than anything.
And Joe will get back to doing these next week - I'm sure......
