My two cents, and its probably not worth that much--
You should release the roster set when you are happy putting your name on it, not a minute sooner.
No feedback or blogs, because that will just eat into the time you can devote to finishing the roster set. If you don't want a community roster set with your name on it, then a hybrid blog system just slows things down.
Make clear you want no feedback directed to you on the roster set, if its a non-community, single release project for your purposes only, and shared with the group, we should accept it on those terms.
The minute it is released, the group can take the work and turn it into a community project, should enough people so choose. Even a discussion group would go a long way to letting everyone tweak to their own tastes.
Best of luck on the roster set. If it turns out as good as you hope and expect, we will all benefit.
