Maybe rewrite the story saying DiMaggio wrenched his back or something. It is possible on a tough slide or swing, although 7th game, it would have to be something where he just plain couldn't play anymore, maybe a badly sprained ankle is better. that's how I'd have done it, anyway.

Don't know about O'Neil and Brown, though; 3 guys going out with injuries in the same game is too uncanny, unless they run into each other. Could DiMaggio and O'Niel have somehow collided in the next frame and then come out?It's no t that fun to "rewrite" the game but it would make it a bit more realistic.
