It's looking more and more like Mark Teixeira will leave Texas sometime before Tuesday's trade deadline.
MLB Trade Rumors
is reporting that the Braves, Dodgers and Angels are all in serious talks, while the Red Sox and Yankees have shown some interest but don't appear to be able to put together the best package.
Ken Rosenthal at Fox Sports
reported tonight that the Braves are in the lead with an offer of switch-hitting, blue-chip catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia and highly-regarded shortstop Elvis Andrus. The internet rumor mill is reporting that the Braves also will need to include a solid pitching prospect (Matt Harrison, Kyle Davies or Jo Jo Reyes) to make the deal work. That same super-reliable internet rumor mill is reporting that the teams are close to an agreement in principle.
Teixeira is in arbitration this year and next, then he (accompanied by agent Scott Boras) is FA eligible after the 2008 season.
