WEEKLY THOUGHTS
We went 2-2 in the shortened week. I keep seeing flashes of good play, but it’s usually followed by yet another bad performance. Rogers continues to show the ability that will hopefully make him into an ace someday, and Evert, Peralta, and Soria are showing some of the ability that will make them into a good bullpen combination. Teahen and German are by far leading the offense, and I need to acquire a second baseman, catcher, and first baseman either in the trade window or in free agency, as those positions are just holes in my lineup right now. They’re not the only ones, but they’re the biggest ones. I also need to hope Anastasio Turrey, my 16-year-old first round pick, develops quickly in the next couple of years, as I’m not sure if we’ll get the same David DeJesus when he comes back from his injury next year.
We traded minor league starting pitcher Ed Yarnall to the Atlanta Braves for a package of pitching prospects, headlined by their first round pick, 16-year-old Salvatore Echezarria.
