Good question, I played a few historical leages and was never really satisfied because of the high expectations I had of the games' superstars and it ALWAYS disappointed me to see the number of failures outweighing the success stories. I started on a histo-fict league where Babe Ruth came up in 1914 but decided to play in the "forbidden" Federal League for his home town Baltimore club. Pitched great the first year and just when I was thinking about making it a dynasty report and bring more players from the NL and AL into the FL - POOF - career gone - CEI, the Babe was done at 20!!!!
Looking at the leadersboards I was surprised not to see what players failed, but the number of unknowns that had very good careers in the game. To me this was just not a historical league but more of a fictional league and because of my inclination to base trades and decisions solely on the players names and my memories of what they were and what they should be, I was never a very good GM. I stay strickly with fictional now but may try a historical with 2007 because my last historical was still with 6.5.
