Before the game we decided to option Carlos Villanueva to AAA for a bit and gave top pitching prospect Joba Chamberlain a shot at starting some in the big leagues. If all goes well he could be up for the rest of the year, but it all depends on how things turn out, as there is another option in AAA that could be in our rotation right now, and that is Sean Gallagher.
7/09: @ Nationals (38-48/19-24 Hm) - Yovani Gallardo (5-7, 3.40) vs Doug Waechter (3-8, 5.60)
Gallardo did very well today, lasting eight innings, allowing two runs, and only one walk. Erick Aybar had another huge day going 3-4 with a home run, a double, and four RBIs. Tony Gwynn was 2-5 with two runs and a RBI. Brad Hawpe is doing his job in front of Rivera, getting on three out of four plate appearances with two walks and a hit in two at bats.
Outcome: Win, 5-2 - WP: Gallardo (6-7); SV: Vazquez (20)
7/10: @ Nationals - Zach Jackson (6-5, 2.55) vs Justin Neimann (6-5, 4.06)
We're not going to talk about this one.
Outcome: Loss, 0-12 - LP: Jackson (6-6)
7/11: @ Nationals - Ben Sheets (7-8, 3.45) vs Mike Hinckley (3-8, 3.73)
Sheets pitched well, but not as good as he has in the past. He gave up two runs in six innings, but walked two and gave up eight hits. Erick Aybar continues to just rip the ball, as he had yet another double going 2-4 with two runs and two RBIs. Brad Hawpe was 2-4 with a home run and a walk, and Juan Rivera hit a three-run home run. Vinny Rottino was also 2-4 with a RBI in the eight hole.
Outcome: Win, 7-3 - WP: Sheets (8-8); SV: Shields (1)
It appears we had some weird scheduling here, as we have another four day period in which no games are played. I think what happened is that the person that made this roster set messed up the scheduling with the all-star game, but didn't go back and change it so it all got messed up. Anyways, again I am just going to include a full, regular report with next week's report because there is just nothing really to report at this time. I will give you a team stats update, but that is all for this week, and next week will be the full standing report along with all of the extra stuff that is present in a regular report. Sorry about tha guys!
