I have no idea what caused this. It's a solo league and I'm in season six, but this probably happened last season (heading into season 5). Not sure how it happened. Would adjusting financials take care of this, and is that the best way to address it? I hate to mess with that, but most team's budgets, even in 2014, aren't much over $80m. That seems...odd.

Any advice/suggestions?

Thanks,

A lot of online commishes were invited to look at the game just before it came out, and this is the problem that I pointed out at the time. I then saw some discussion of this on the boards, and, if I remember correctly, someone suggested that it was caused by the game doing a poor job with things like market size, fan loyalty, etc.

However, my online league Dog Days has been plagued by a similar problem, and I doubt that that is caused by the game defining market sizes. Whenever a team spends any time under AI control, it makes insane financial decisions. One team is $150 million in the red. This makes the other teams that experienced a period of AI control and now maybe $5 million in the red seem like no big deal.

If you are looking for temporary fixes for your league, you can increase market size and fan loyalty and lower the salary settings in League Setup=>Rules.

However, I think the game still has issues in the financial arena, and I would suggest posting this in the technical support forum, and linking this thread.
