GAME #043 @ Washington W 6-4
WP – J. Rooker (2-3) LP – C. Cox (2-5) SV – T.Burgmeier (1)
HR – KC: J. Foy (2), J. Rooker (2)

The difference in this game was the Royals 5 run outburst in the fifth inning highlighted by pitcher Jim Rooker’s solo homer and Joe Foy’s two run homer. Lou Piniella and Paul Schaal also added run scoring singles and the Senators just couldn’t quite catch back up.

Rooker went 7.2 innings and allowed 4 runs, 3 of them earned, while walking 1 and striking out 5. Tom Burgmeier finished up the final 1.1 innings for his first save of the season, taking the place of Moe Drabowsky, who still wasn’t available after his recent 6 plus inning stint.

POG – Kansas City’s Joe Foy – 2 for 5, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 1 R

“All I’m going to say is that we’ve talked about it,” said Royals skipper Carlos Ramirez, when asked again about Ed Kirkpatrick, who expressed his displeasure with being pinch hit for in yesterday’s game. “He’s not real happy with what I told him, but he’s not the manager. I am and he’ll either deal with it or not. I don’t really care.”

Ed Kirkpatrick and the rest of the Royals active roster were not available, per instructions from Carlos Ramirez.
