Game #64 – Kansas City (Z. Greinke 2-10, 7.35 ERA) at Los Angeles (A) Angels (E. Santana 5-3, 4.45 ERA)
Kansas City 6
Los Angeles (A) 7
W: S. Shields (5-2) L: J. Soria (0-2)
HR – KC: M. Teahen (13)
Ugh. What a frustrating finish. Greinke went 8 innings and gave up 4 runs on 11 hits and 1 walk and struck out 4. Not the greatest numbers, but it was enough to take a 6-4 lead into the ninth, where he handed it off to Soria. This is how the 9th went:
Quinlan walked on 4 straight. Figgins grounded out to first, advancing Quinlan to 2nd. Kendrick doubled to score Quinlan. Guerrero singled to score Kendrick and tie the game. Peralta came in to pitch to Konerko and threw a wild pitch on the 2nd pitch to allow Vlad to advance to third. Then Konerko did all he needed to do and flew out to center, and Vlad tagged up and scored the winning run.
