MICHAEL "IRISH" PATRICK, SP, BOSTON SHAMROCKS, 32 Years Old - Irish was up to his usual excellence, but luck was not with him this time as he went down for the rest of the season with a ruptured disk in his back, effectively slamming the door on the Shamrocks' season. Patrick was considering signing up for the armed forces at the end of the season, but that's not an option for the foreseeable future.
ALEJANDRO ROMO, SP, LOUISVILLE COLONELS, 33 Years Old - Despite missing close to 2 months with continued arm trouble, Romo managed to put up an impressive season in limited time. He is becoming more injury-prone, though, and that is becoming a concern.
JEFFERSON "ALBERT" TIBBS, RF, LOUISVILLE COLONELS, 31 Years Old - If he wasn't in the same league as the Pride of the Pilgrims, Jimmie Foxx, Tibbs would have won a number of Top Slugger awards. He passed 400 homers this season, and will likely finish 2nd all-time in this category behind the aforementioned Foxx.
MIKE PAZ, 2B, LOUISVILLE COLONELS, 36 Years Old - Paz has become the posterboy for players who should have called it quits. He obviously can't let go.
LARRY BRYAN, 1B, MILWAUKEE BREWERS, 34 Years Old - Bryan only has a couple years left, but he still can be found near the top of numerous categories. Hopefully the sale of the Brewers to investors in Atlanta will get him to the postseason before he retires.
TONY "HERCULES" PAPADAPOULOS, LF, DETROIT WOLVERINES, 35 Years Old - Tony Pop had his first completely healthy season in 3 seasons and his homer total was the obvious result. This may be his last season, though, as he has hinted that he wants to join the Air Force even though he's getting up there in years. The fact that he has family in war-torn Greece certainly will play a part in his decision.
JOE SAINT, SP, LOUISVILLE COLONELS, 32 Years Old - Holy Joe won 20 wins for the 3rd staright year, but his ERA keeps climbing, probably due to his increasing tendency to give up the longball. He gave up an astonishing 50 this season.
PETER LIPKING, RP, WASHINGTON MONUMENTALS, 32 Years Old - Lipking finally started the season in the bullpen and, with the exception of 5 weeks lost to injury, he had quite a successful season. He should anchor the bullpen for some time now.
SHAWN "SPECIAL-K" KIENAST, 1B, CINCINNATI SCARLETS, 26 Years Old - Special K listened to his critics and worked on his patience at the plate. The results were obvious....a 40 point increase in his batting average, another homerun crown and a trip to the postseason. A Top Slugger Award could be in the cards as well.
BOB SAXON, LF, CINCINNATI SCARLETS, 26 Years Old - Saxon came up again, this time for 2 at-bats. Rumor has it, he's considering signing up for the infantry.
TIM "THE CANNON" GANNON, 3B, NEW YORK HIGHLANDERS, 23 Years Old - Now that trades are allowed, the Highlanders decided to shuffle Gannon off to Buffalo in return for
Don Padgett and
Vito Tamulis. The frozen north seemed to agree with him as he quickly became the starter and appeared to regain his rookie form. Hopefully he's back for good.
ALASTAIR "H.R.H." WINDSOR, CF, WASHINGTON MONUMENTALS, 24 Years Old - Prince Al won his first batting title and is a huge star in D.C. despite the fact that the U.S. is at war with his home country.
VICTOR STARFFIN, RP, BROOKLYN PERFECTOS, 21 Years Old - Starffin continues to suffer from a lack of run support. He's still young, though. Hopefully the Perfectos will pick up some offense now that free agency has begun.
QUINN MACLEAN, RP, BUFFALO BARONS, 21 Years Old - Maclean was brought up for a couple weeks midseason, but he was obviously not ready.
MIKE "THE HITMAN" FELDBUSH, LF, ST. LOUIS MAROONS, 22 Years Old - The Hitman, as Feldbush is becoming known, is the toast of the town in St. Louis. At 22, he looks to have a long career ahead of him.
ORVAL GRAHAM, CF, NEW YORK KNIGHTS, 20 Years Old - Graham spent most of the season in AAA, but the Knights brought him up in September. He may not be ready now, but the future looks bright for the young slugger.
