A 1st round KO loss to Ovrille Qualls in May 1966 started things out for Brooks before he then reeled off 7 straight victories in 1967 and 1968. Included were wins over Art Robinson, Joe Shelton, Art Miller, Joe Byrd, Mac Harrison and Willie McMillan. Then in February and may 1969 he suffered straight knockout defeats to Bob Mashburn(8-11-2,5) and LHW Stan Johnson(26-5-0,11).Six and 10 round decisions over Fred Askew and Charles Singleton was followed by a 6th round KO of Aaron Eastling to finish out 1969.

In April 1970 Brooks was knocked out at 2:49 of the 1st round of a scheduled 12 rounder against Cleveland Williams. From that time on Brooks career was sporadic with two more fights in 1970 and then one each in 71,73,74,75,76 and 1979. After the Williams loss he won 7 fights including against Johnny Mac, Art Robinson, Terry Daniels and Vic Brown. After the 10 round decision over Vic Brown in November 1976 the last recorded fight in boxrec for Brooks comes in January 1979 when he fights a 12 round draw with Leroy Caldwell for the Wisconsin State HW title.
