Rube led in mine in 1902, 1903, 1904, and 1906. Doc White beat him by 4 in 1901 and Ralph Caldwell dominated in 1905 with 305 Ks to Rube's 247.
His 317 Ks in 1904 is still standing as the post-1900 season record up to the beginning of 1947 (where I am right now).
He is second in career strikeouts with 2,700 to Walter Johnson's 3,260 (Chief Bender is in third with 2,543).
