2037 Season

April:

April ends with the Trojans in a familiar place, 18-10 and three games up on the division. They did go 4-6 in the last ten days, so the team knows there is plenty of room for improvement.

Morris was "en fuego" to coin a phrase, in April, hitting .456 to lead the league in batting. Going 47 for 103, Morris had 14 extra base hits and 20 RBIs and an astounding 26 bases on balls while striking out 6 times. He was still looking for his wheels as he was 4 for 8 in stolen base chances.

Named Batter of the Month for the Southern League in April.

May:

A 14-14 month saw the Trojans slide into second place, one game behind Tusculum in the division race.

Morris cooled down dramatically in May, hitting only .345 while going 39 for 113 at the plate. He hit his first home run of the season while driving in 19 runs and scoring 27 times himself. The wheels started coming around as he was a perfect 4 for 4 on the basepaths, he also walked 16 more times, striking out 5 times. For the season he is batting .398 with 1 HR, 39 RBI and 8 stolen bases. He's walked 42 times already in only 57 games. The home run came on the 18th against St. Josephs, a first inning two-run shot to straight away left field clearing the fences at 358 feet.

June

A rebound month for the Trojans who go back on top of the division by two games over Tusculum. At 46-37, the team is playing solid ball and for the first time this season, do not suffer a losing record down the stretch.

Morris continues to cool off, going 32/97 at the plate, batting .330 for the month. He drives in 14 runs with 5 stolen bases and his average is down to .377 for the season, still tops in the majors and seven points in front of his next closest competitor. Teammates Pollard and Ibarra are also in the top eight for the Southern League.

* Morris named to second straight All Star team.
* The Trojans acquired 26 year old third baseman Ilias Carson this month from the St. Joesphs Pumas in exchange for 36 year old starting pitcher Ivan Murillo and 23 year old minor league pitcher Sancho Avila. Carson is hitting .283 with 1 HR and 23 RBI in 67 games this year.
* Morris goes 0 for 3 in the All Star game, starting for the first time. He had one strikeout and left three men on as the Southern League won again, 4-1.
