Frank Robinson gave the Orioles an early lead with his eighth homer on the season and extending his hit streak to 13 games. However, the Royals were able to recover and get 5 runs off of Os hurler Jim Palmer, highlighted by Lou Piniellas 2 rbis and Pat Kellys 4 for 4 day.
Bob Miller had another solid pitching performance and Moe Drabowsky, while a little shaky in the ninth, did get the save.

I used my defense tonight, answered Bob Miller when asked about only having 1 strikeout. Got them to pound the ball into the ground and most of them went towards the infielders. Strikeouts get all the glory, but groundouts can be just as effective.
Its about time I helped this team out, said a sheepish Joe Foy who picked up two hits raising his average to .217. Maybe this will get me going for a little bit.
