August '17 Update
PENNANT RACES TIGHT AS STRETCH RUN LOOMS
The pennant races in both leagues are tight as the stretch run looms. The Indians currently have stormed into the AL lead with a solid June and July. Their lead over second-place Chicago is two games, with the Browns three back and the Red Sox seven back. In the NL, the Cubs remain the front-runners, with Brooklyn still just three back. The Giants have fallen off the pace and sit eleven back and are probably out of contention. Of the contending teams, the White Sox could prove interesting - they have the league's best hitting with a .268 team average (in a league hitting .247) and Dennis Eckersley is pitching some outstanding baseball (18-6 with a 1.50 ERA). Should the White Sox manage to pass the Indians and capture the AL flag, it would be the first in team history - and could set up an all-Chicago World Series if the Cubs can hold off Brooklyn.
