Andy Pettitte has signed a 3 year, $17.17 million extension with the Yankees. That actually seems somewhat reasonable for a Yankees contract.
Well I said wed probably trade a first baseman, and we did today, trading Ryan Shealey to Toronto for pitching prospects CL T.J. Beam, SP Rickey Romero, SP Chi-Hung Cheng, and SP Kurt Isenberg. Shealey was probably our best first baseman as of now, but still expendable, which says something about the state of this team. I also think Gordon might be in the bigs by the end of the season, so I need to find some way to play both him and Teahen at the same time, and I think first base is a logical fit.

A couple contract extensions signed today:
First, Andrew Jones and Atlanta agreed to a 5 year deal worth $16.49 million per year.
Also, in the shocking deal of the early season in my opinion, Michael Barrett signed with the Cubs for 7 years and $117.53 million!
At least theres Wrigley, right Cubs fans?

So we're 4-6 after the first week and a half of Spring Training. I'm obviously not pleased with how we've played, especially with some of the pitching performances we've had, but I'm not too disappointed, either. It just reinforces that there's a lot of work to do, but I think we're moving in the right direction.
