We traded LF Chip Ambres to Milwaukee today, getting 3B Corey Koskie, MR Alec Zumwalt, and prospects, including SP Mark Rogers. There’s a good chance Koskie will not finish the season with us. He could be a valuable chip at the deadline.

My first phone calls from other general managers today. The first one came from crazy Bill Bavasi in Seattle. He wanted me to give him RF Reggie Sanders, minor league 2B Irving Falu, and $1.5 million for 1B Ben Broussard. I need 1B about as much as I need 3B. I mean….ummm….moving on…

Jon Daniels of Texas was the other GM to call me. He offered me RF Jason Botts and minor league C Miguel Chavarria for C John Buck and minor league SS Chris McConnell. I think Buck is our best C and McConnell is one of our better prospects. No deal here, either.

MR Chris Hammond signed a 2 year deal with Atlanta worth $8.28 million.
