GAME #020 @ Minnesota L 4-3
WP – A. Worthington (1-1) LP – G. Cisco (1-3)
The Royals led 3-2 late in the game, but the bullpen allowed single runs in the eight and ninth that let the Twins come away with the win. Good news for KC, though, as Jim Rooker had another solid start. He went 7 plus strong innings and scattering 9 hits while walking 1 and striking out 2. Pat Kelly was the hitting star of the game for KC as he picked up 3 hits and 1 rbi.
POG – Kansas City’s Pat Kelly – 3 for 5, 1 rbi
“I could’ve done better,” said Rooker in the clubhouse afterwards. “I got a little tired late, but all in all it was a good game. I’m just disappointed we couldn’t get the win.”
“We left too many men on base tonight,” answered manager Carlos Ramirez why the Royals lost another close game. “We left a small village on the basepaths (12 men left on base) and didn’t take advantage of the opportunities that we had. The Twins did and that’s why they got the win.”
