The main problem here wasn't that one guy just got onto the pitch and managed to attack the referee, but there where no way the guards could ensure it couldn't happpen as clearly showed by two more getting onto the pitch while the referees where deciding what to do.

I completely agree he was lucky that he wasn't punched, but the point I'm making is that if he had been stopped before he had hit the side of his face would he have immediately called off the game, and I would guess no. The intent would still be the same, but the execution of it wouldn't have happened.
