Well, I guess in a way, I'm going to get the playing time I wanted. Tampa Bay has traded me to Kansas City, the worst team in Major League Baseball. Kansas City sent a couple of long shot prospects over.

For the third straight time in my career, I'm joining one of the losingest teams in the AL. But again, it's a new opportunity to be a key part of the team. And I dunno, some guys will tell you it's all about the team winning, but I'm not one of them. I want to be out there every day doing what I do best, and what I love--playing second base. And I'd rather feel like I'm important to our team's fortunes, win or lose.

I'm a little skeptical about Kansas City though. There aren't any real stars here, the fans don't come out to the park, and I wonder seriously if the owner is committed to spending his money on this team.

I do know one thing--I'm not going to blow another chance. I even told B.J Upton before I left, if he could learn anything from me, it's that when you get that chance to be the man, don't blow it by hitting .260. Tampa Bay's got another youngster in double A by the name of Sanner. They think he's the next Ryne Sandberg, and before long, he's gonna be pushing B.J., the way B.J. pushed me. I guess that's the way the majors work--you either put up the numbers, or they find somebody else.
