kq, I'm glad you replied to this silly statement.
Without some form of taxation, there is complete anarchy.
No taxation = no government.
As for a money-making league, I just think it would lead to really bad feelings. Plus, think of the potential to attract cheating owners.... Once you add money into the mix, there's so many things to fight over. I think this is a bad idea, although if you've got people willing to try it, I say good luck to you....
And I wouldn't worry too much about tax consequences. It is technically illegal, but I'd guess it wouldn't be any more likely to attract official attention than March Madness stuff.
