Sure, they did a lot of "small ball" type things, but most of their runs came from the home run... 4th most reliant in the league for it, in fact. Also, it's highlighted by the fact that going back to 2000, they've had an above average offense every year except... 2005! And that year they were among the team leaders in home runs hit (partially a side effect from their stadium, but you get my point, regardless!)

I guess my point is that although they had a ton of home runs, it didn't feel like they relied on it. It just seemed like they had really good at bats and the home runs would come. This year, it seems like they are desperately trying to hit a home run every time up. That is where the difference is in my opinion. I would much rather have the '05 offense than this crap we have now
EDIT: Although, they did look good over the weekend for at least 2 games. Hope they can keep it going.
