Games
9/21 - 2-1 loss @ Idaho (15 innings) - We used 27 players in this game, with only 8 of them being pitchers. Long went 6.2 innings allowing just a run and Montana ended up giving up a couple singles and the winning run to get the loss. We only had 8 hits the entire game, with Grimes hitting two of them.
9/22 - 2-1 loss @ Idaho - Perez pitched well, but lost (7 IP, 6 H, 2 ER, 5 Ks) to drop his record to 10-16. Massengill had 2 hits and Grimes had a triple.
9/23 - 5-3 WIN @ Idaho - Richard Jerkins went 3-4 scoring 2 runs with an RBI to lead us to victory. Chip Herold got the win as he went 7 innings alliwng 9 hits and 3 runs with 5 strikeouts.
9/24 - 3-1 loss @ Utah - Panic drops to 0-4 with a fairly decent outing (7 IP, 5 H, 3 ER, 6 Ks). Grimes and Massengill combine for 4 of our 7 hits.
9/25 - 7-5 WIN @ Utah - Alex Acevedo got his first start in over a year and didn't fair too well (4 IP, 3 H, 3 ER, 3 BB). He was injured and had to be taken out of the game. Jerkins, Tolerton, and Schuh all had homeruns. Where was this power all season, boys?
9/26 - 5-2 WIN @ Utah - Paul Long had 2 hits and 2 RBIs to pace the offense. He also pitched pretty well too (8 IP, 6 H, 2 ER, 3 Ks).
9/27 - 11-1 loss vs Nevada - We managed just two hits (a single by Koenig and a double by Contoeras), and Perez and company get lit up. Perez himself only went 3.2 innings, giving up 9 hits, and 6 ER.
9/28 - 12-4 loss vs Nevada - Grimes, Massengill, Koenig, and Bacon get 2 hits each, but that's not enough to overcome the disaster that was our pitching staff. Herold started it all going 1 2/3 innings, giving up 6 hits, and allowing 6 runs. My boy Jacob Perl beat us to get his 13th win of the year.
9/29 - 6-1 WIN vs Nevada - THIS is what we can look forward to. Panic Mesick won his 1st game, with a complete game 5 hitter with 3 Ks as he obviously won Player of the Game. Hal Rehm went 2 for 3 with a triple, an RBI, and 2 runs scored.
9/30 - 5-1 loss vs Washington - Paul Long pitched like he normally does (7 IP, 5 H, 4 ER), and our offense can't give him any help managing only 6 hits (1 of which was by Long himself). Hennen and Contoeras had 2 hits apiece.

Nevada has been in the basement for so long, and I was hoping they'd put up an even better showing than they did. It would have been nice to see them make the playoffs. Maybe next year!

There are three more games to be played, and if Wisconsin beats Texas in all three of their games, and then wins the Tie-breaker playoff, they are in. That will be a rough road for the Lumberjacks.

All the playoff spots in the Founding Fathers League have been decided. Virginia is going to play Mississippi and Massachusetts is going to play New York.

It's already decided that Souza is going to start our last game of the season. I know he's our closer, and I know that he probably won't last more than 5 innings, but the man has made 257 starts for this ballclub (which is 5th all time on the Ram leaderboard). He also is 3rd all time on that leaderboard for games pitched. I'll do a little writeup about him either today or sometime during the playoffs.

Mesick picked up his first win. Good stuff. And he's only 19! I think I am going to shut him down for the year though. We only have 3 more games and he wouldn't be ready until our last one (and even then, he'd be pitching on short rest). You'll see him next year though.

At least we have 1 guy with double digit homeruns! Look at those RBI totals too. Our high guy, Jerkins, has 56. Uuuuuugly!

I just hope that in the next year or two, some of these guys develop some more. Otherwise, we'll be hurting.
