Why would you want to change it? Frozen ropes were made famous by Vin Scully, one of the most famous pbp guys ever, possibly only behind Harry Caray. It's definitely a valid pbp call. As is a 'Texas leaguer', saying someone 'slud into third', calling a lazy fly a 'can of corn', or a sharp hook an 'uncle charlie'. That slang is part of what makes baseball great and sets it aside from other sports.
Though, I guess what makes OOTP great and sets it aside from other games is your ability to change that if you so choose. But boy would pbp in real life (and to me, in the game) be boring if every line drive was described as "a hard line drive".
