Draft Compensation with patch of 2.0.1
I wanted to know before hand the ruling on Type A-C with my season ending and winter meetings approaching what the new rulings for OOTP07 are with the updates of the patch 2.0.1
Here is the Official Ruling:
'Each free agent is rated by the Elias Sports Bureau and then placed into three categories -- A, B, and C. Under the new CBA, Type A free agents are redefined as those in the top 20% and Type B free agents are now those in the 21-40% range.
There is no longer any draft pick compensation for losing a Type C free agent. Previously, losing a Type B free agent would result in the signing team forfeiting a first or second round draft pick to the former team, but now the compensation will be a sandwich pick between the first and second rounds. So teams signing a Type B free agent do not actually lose a draft pick. Losing a Type A free agent will still cost the new team their first round pick and a sandwich pick, but there will be fewer Type A free agents as noted above.'
So my questions are:
1. If you sign a Type A FA do you lose a 1st round only, or 1st and 2nd round?
2. If signing a Type B FA do you lose just a 2nd round pick or even just a 1st round?
3. If you sign multiple Type A, ie 3 for instance how many and what picks would you lose?
4. If you sign multiple Type B, ie 3, how many and what picks would they be?
5. Lastly, are the top 15 first round picks still to be protected even when acquiring Type A Free Agents?
The original obviously had issues where you could get away with this so with the new patch before testing and losing my 1st overall pick in the process I want to find out ahead of time on this new ruling OOTP developments had created.
