Lahman Database and League Expansion.

I know this question has been asked before because I have seen it on this board but can't find the thread using the search option so here goes:

How does OOPT5 and lahman database react with league expansion. For example if I am playing a league that started in 1990 will the game or the lahman database handle the league going from 2 divisions to 3 divisions? Is there somewhere in the lahman database that has this information? Thanks for any help.
