Thanks for not being crabby!
I did as you said, going as far as eliminating up to OOTP Baseball\data as I wanted to place this in the directory that the install DID let me pick, but not overwrite the data folder that is there. I renamed OOTP Baseball 2007 to BASEBALL WORLD and now it is working fine.
"C:\Documents and Settings\user name\My Documents\Sports Interactive\OOTP Baseball 2007\data"
"D:\OOTP BASEBALL 2007\BASEBALL WORLD\data"

AND if it's anybody's concern, I DO NOT download a lot of games! Just Great one's like OOTP!!!
