Well, you kind of answered your own dilemma here didn't you? You either enjoy the amount of detail, or you play BB mogul. You seem to enjoy BB Mogul.
Its not like you have to like OOTP. I'm sure its not for everyone.
Edit: In addition, you don't find the league creation wizard to be of any help?
