All I could say earlier in an email to the league was WOW!!! But it's time to give credit where credit is due, besides me for my wonderful inaugural drafting

, so here goes an analysis of the teams lineup and pitching and their contribution (or lack of it) to our sucess.
1. Jim Walewander, Shortstop .332 OBP : He's gonna lose his leadoff spot next yr but is a decent enough shortstop
2. John "Bad Dude" Stearns, Catcher Not bad (though team offense is BAD 10th in runs scored) 2nd on the team in RBI's but a definite off year compared to 1901
3. Frank Robinson, Rightfield still not driving in the runs expected but its more the fault of the guys ahead of him. Frank had an AMAZING OPS of 1.208 to help the team win the pennant.
4. Emmett Seery, Pitcher (YEAH this is Funky, he's in lineup as OF but listed in game and html as a PITCHER)..... Again just a below avg year which is not surprising as we have no offense.
5. Nick Esasky, First Base I was glad to see Nick on my team, he was a personal fav of mine when he played, Nick is prob most improved bumping his OPS 70 points from 1901
6. Charlie "Cholly" Engle, Third Base and Lyn "Broadway" Lary, Third Base
Platoon worked een though it wasn't a lefty/righty thing
7. Domingo Cedeno, Second Base Sucky offense with even suckier defense
8. Eddie L. Miller, Centerfield, 21 yrs took over the last 44 games of the season from the suddenly very old playing Sam West, Centerfield, 37 yrs
2b and CF are 2 positions that need first priotity but other than Frank Robinson there is no offense.
Rotation
1. Vern Olsen, Starting Pitcher 20-14 with 28CG QS% 67% 5 Shutouts
2. Larry Dierker, Starting Pitcher almost identical to Olsen
3. Alan Embree, Starting Pitcher almost identical to Dierker
Relief
Al Fitzmorris, Starting Pitcher 5 games 5 IP nuff said
Lloyd Allen, Reliever 8 games 5 IP nuff said
Milt Gaston, Starting Pitcher, 33 yrs 51 IP 2.09 era 4 starts did well enough to get some more action next yr
Paul Strand, Reliever 5.04 ERA but 4 saves
Leon Chagnon, Starting Pitcher 16-9 will prob go as #4 SP next yr as Beaneaters switch to 4 man
All in all I think we got lucky, got hot pitching (mid season we were IIRC 9th or so in lg in ERA ended season 3rd) at the end, and the top teams are closely bunched in talent so...
We definitely need some offensive upgrades especially up the middle...
