Gauging interest in a "different" kind of league

I've been planning something as a solo project, but thought I'd put it out here and see if anyone would be interested in participating as an online league.

I would serve as commish only as I have plenty going on otherwise, but since this is something I was planning on doing as a solo project anyway, updating a website and taking in lineups via FTP won't add much in the way of workload.

The idea is this:

What if players from all different eras were randomly moved to a different time?

For example - how would Roger Clemens or Barry Bonds (or Joe DiMaggio for that matter) do in the world of 19th century baseball?

I have a system I set up for normalizing players which I am using for my Timeline Baseball League.

This system would just require me normalizing individual players to a specific span of seasons.

I would offset the player's career to "move" him to the new era. To use the example above, I would take Roger Clemens' stats from 1991 forward and normalize 1991 to 1871, 1992 to 1872, and so on through 2002/1882. This would create a "dawn of baseball" Clemens.

This would be done for all players - and the players would be randomly selected (using a script I've devised) from the history of the game.

Each season's rookie crop would be done the same way - their entire careers would be normalized to match. Only players who debuted in a year ending in '2' would be rookies in 1872, for example.

Each season would be played to the format actually used. 1871 would have 8 teams (not 9) competing in a 30-game schedule and each team would have 1 starting pitcher.

The goal would be to get into the 20th century by the end of 2003, so the seasons would go by relatively quickly.

Players would never reappear, so anyone playing in 1871 would not be eligible for random selection as a rookie at any time after that.

Would anyone be interested in acting as a GM in this thing?

I'll do it as a solo project if there's no interest, but figured "what the heck?" - let's run it up the flagpole and see if anyone salutes.

Thanks for your time,
Joe
