Anyone who doesn't put Beane in the top 2 on this list is off their rocker. I know alot has been made of him with Moneyball etc, but how anyone can deny what the A's have done is beyond me. Just a quick look at some numbers says that since 98 Schuerholz and Atlanta have won 34 more games than Oakland, thats less than 4 more wins per year. Atlanta is doing that on payrolls consistently in the top 10 in the majors. They are spending an extra $30+ Million a year to gain 4 more wins. Schuerholz is a good GM, and Atlanta has been successful over a long period of time, and for the most part they have won with homegrown talent. But you can't tell me with another 30 mill a year Billy Beane couldn't have kept some of the talent they let go and make up more than 4 wins a year. "Best" is relative depending on what you are looking for, but if I had a major league franchise and anyone to run it I would pick Beane hands down any day of the week.
