Note: I had a damn glitch while attempting to backup my savegame. OOTP crashed to desktop and the savegame was corrupted. I backed up previously just before the start of the Cleveland series 6 games ago so I just simmed those 6 games to get back up-to-date. So stats & records, which I just spent much of the afternoon typing out, will be slightly different from what I just posted moving forward from here. A review of the leaderboards and the month of May will now be a bit useless as well but here's what I had just started prior to the crash...
Quote:
Major League Baseball Update: June 1, 2021
All of the division leaders with the exception of the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League West had remained the same as the month before. The Cleveland Indians, who were tied with the Chicago White Sox for first place in the American League Central at the end of April, had experienced the biggest drop during May as they found themselves eight games out of first in last place. The Houston Astros won just seven games in May and were looking up at the division leading Chicago Cubs from 25 games behind. The Atlanta Braves held onto the worst record in baseball with a woeful 14-39 record. If the Braves stay on their current course they may end up challenging us for the worst single-season record in baseball history (we posted a 44-118 mark last year).
The Braves couldn’t hope to fly under the radar because the team with the best record in baseball, the defending World Series champion New York Mets, were in their division and were off to a nasty 41-13 start (the best in baseball) and held a 27-game lead over the hapless club from Atlanta.
Despite our strong month the Angles had had an even better one and sat just 3 games behind us in the American League West. They had gained ground on us by playing a relentless string of games in May and we were probably lucky that we wouldn’t have to face them again until late July when they might hopefully cool down a bit.
