As you know, I like messing around with numbers, and following on from the three year relegation average system used mainly in South America, I decided to see who, if anyone, would have been relegated from last season Premiership under this system, than the one season relegation.
Here is the table:
Code:
2003/04 2004/05 2005/06 Total Average
Chelsea 79/38 95/38 91/38 265/114 2.325
Arsenal 90/38 83/38 67/38 240/114 2.105
Manchester United 75/38 77/38 83/38 235/114 2.061
Liverpool 60/38 58/38 82/38 200/114 1.754
Bolton Wanderers 53/38 58/38 56/38 167/114 1.465
West Ham United - - 55/38 55/38 1.447
Tottenham Hotspur 45/38 52/38 65/38 162/114 1.421
Newcastle United 56/38 44/38 58/38 158/114 1.386
Wigan Athletic - - 51/38 51/38 1.342
Everton 39/38 61/38 50/38 150/114 1.316
Blackburn Rovers 44/38 42/38 63/38 149/114 1.307
Middlesbrough 48/38 55/38 45/38 148/114 1.298
Charlton Athletic 53/38 46/38 47/38 146/114 1.281
Aston Villa 56/38 47/38 42/38 145/114 1.272
Fulham 52/38 44/38 48/38 144/114 1.263
Manchester City 41/38 52/38 43/38 136/114 1.193
Birmingham City 50/38 45/38 34/38 129/114 1.132
Portsmouth 45/38 39/38 38/38 122/114 1.070 Relegated
West Bromwich Albion - 34/38 30/38 64/76 0.842 Relegated
Sunderland - - 15/38 15/38 0.395 Relegated
So there would have been one change - Portsmouth would have gone down instead of Birmingham City.
