The commissioner role is still a bit confusing to me. I am the commissioner of my league, and I am the GM of the NYY. This suits me in a number of ways, ease of league maintenance and job security paramount. However, you can be a commissioner without being a GM. If you have that identity selected, you can "Act As" the GM for any ballclub, but this does not mean the usual GM prerogatives. You can make roster moves, force trades, etc. but you are not the GM so this team does not report to you, hence no news. At least I *think* this is the way it works, based on my readings here and what I have seen in my game.
