Lewis retains CBU belt
July 7, 1911
Ted "Kid" Lewis (18/13) (16-2) (pre) scored a UD12 over Matt Wells (20/24) (14-1-1) (pre) for his first defense of the CBU title.
Wells dropped Lewis in the 8th but other than that Lewis controlled the fight. Lewis was penalized a point in the 9th after his 5th total warning. Wells rallied to win the 10th to cut it close, but Lewis won the last two rounds going away.
I had it 115-112 as did ringside expert, Scott Lang. The official judges had it 115-111/115-111/115-110.
